NeuroLymphatic Reflexes

« Back to Glossary Index

These reflexes were originally researched by Dr. Frank Chapman, D.O. Lymph is a body fluid that assists in draining toxins. When lymph flow is disrupted, toxins build up and hamper the function of the organ or tissue involved. Chapman found that with firm massage on specific areas of the body (mostly on the torso), the lymphatic drainage of organs improved with subsequent benefit to the function of the organ. Dr. George Goodheart, D.C., in his original Applied Kinesiology research, used these reflexes to help discover which muscles were associated with which organ, and therefore the related meridian. The reflexes were then adopted as a primary tool for balancing the muscle/meridian/organ relationship.
