NeuroVascular Reflexes

« Back to Glossary Index

These reflexes were originally researched by Dr. Terence Bennett, D.C. Blood brings needed oxygen and nutrition to organs and other tissues in the body, and exchanges it for the waste products of cellular metabolism. When vascular (blood) flow is disrupted, toxic waste products build up and hamper the function of the organ or tissue involved. Bennett found that holding specific points of the body (mostly on the head with light touch), the vascular flow of organs improved with subsequent benefit in the function of the organ. Dr. George Goodheart, D.C., in his original Applied Kinesiology research, used these reflexes to help discover which muscles were associated with which organ, and therefore the related meridian. The reflexes were then adopted as a primary tool for balancing the muscle/meridian/organ relationship.
