From the Sanscrit word meaning “wheel”, a chakra is an energy structure in the body that projects from the body outwards in a conical shape. Its connection in the body is via a large bundle of nerves, known as a plexus (such as the Solar Plexus). The chakras are originally part of Indian (the country) philosophy. There are 7 major chakra centers. The first chakra, the root chakra, is located at the base of the spine and projects downwards. Then, moving upwards, there are 5 chakras that project off the front and back of the body. Finally, the last chakra projects out of the top of the head and is called the crown chakra.
