Holographic

« Back to Glossary Index

A hologram is a three dimensional picture of an object, captured on special holographic film. One of the main principles of holography is that, even if you cut a holographic film plate into hundreds of pieces, each piece contains the whole picture of the original object. However, the object becomes fuzzier and less and less recognizable as the pieces get smaller. By bringing together the little pieces of film, the picture begins to get clearer. This concept is at the root of Holographic Explorer philosophy and practice — bringing together the historical pieces of an issue to balance a clear picture.
